crassus, I don't think he has a minimum release clause. the fee expected that we'd want is £50m, maybe the daves would drop to £40m? I love payet but is that sort of money too good to turn down?

I think that payrise easiler in the season might well prove to be a masterstroke from the owners.

Not only does someone have to meet OUR valuation on him, but they will also have to offer him something close to what he is earning now.

I think that was 125k/week?

I know there are a number of clubs who could afford that, but would they be willing to part for it for someone who is already nearly 30?

If you were his agent would you have a release in there?

Then look at Real, and Barca winning the league, the toxic Glactico culture and God forbid Athletico winning the CL and our lad doing the bit in France, as he did as a sub recently.

id be disappointed if they agreed to a minimum fee release clause after giving him that contract. we've done some stupid things though over the years so it wouldn't shock me if that was the case

Liverpool sell Suarez and 'strengthen with Markovic, Balliotelli, Loveren and Ricky fucking Lambert. How'd that work out?

Spurs sell Bale and 'strengthen' with Soldado, Capoue, and Paulinho. Soldado alone cost £26m. How'd that work out?

You do NOT sell your best players if they dine at the very highest table of ability. Selling Payet will weaken us because we will not sign another of his individual quality

I agree, to me he's priceless but it's all about him and what he wants. id love him to say fuck off to Madrid and say that he's happy and looking forward to the new stadium and bigger crowds but you just know that some parasite agent will be in his ear trying to turn him. cunts

To be fair, they are examples of poor investment. You could add Lamela to the list of Spurs buys and he has performed well this season. Likewise with Liverpool you could include Can who I think is a very good investment.

Don't get me wrong, the last thing I want us to do is sell Payet, however if a bid comes in and his head is turned, that's the inevitable result. That being the case, we need to maximise revenue and invest it wisely.

I don't think Real would spend £40m on a 29 year old, also will Payet start for France in the Euro's?

i'd swap Payet for James Rodriguez or if they want to chuck us £20m and Modric that would do as well

Well Southampton have had a couple of seasons of selling their prized assets but still finished above us again

Issue really is that if the player really wants to go you're generally better off with the money in your pocket to find new players that want to play for you than watching your star player sulk and under perform

No idea if there's any truth in the rumours but if a big club is in for him he may well see it as his last chance at 29
